# Default insights

Choose which insights appear in the meeting sidebar for everyone in your organization, and the order they appear in.

Cogram shows a set of insights on every meeting: Summary, Bullet points, Minutes, Tabular minutes, and Action items, followed by any Custom Insights your organization has. Admins can hide the ones your teams do not use and put the rest in the order that matches how you work.

This is an organization-wide setting. It applies to everyone, including people opening a shared meeting link.

## When to use this

* Your Word template is built on one kind of minutes, and people are editing the other one by mistake
* A default insight duplicates a Custom Insight you already rely on
* Your teams read one insight first every time, and it sits halfway down the list

## Change the sidebar

1. Go to [Organization settings > Meetings](https://app.cogram.com/dashboard/settings/admin/meetings).
2. Select **Default insights** in the left column.
3. Turn an insight off to remove it from the meeting sidebar, or drag the handle to move it.
4. Custom Insights appear in their own list below, under **Custom**. They order among themselves and stay under the Custom heading in the sidebar.

Changes save as you make them and apply to every meeting straight away, old and new.

**Action items cannot be hidden.** It is the only place to add an action item to a meeting, so it can be reordered but not turned off.

## Hidden insights and your exports

Hiding an insight changes the app only. Cogram still generates it, and any Word template that includes it keeps working exactly as before. If you want an insight out of your exported document, edit the [Word template](/meetings/templates.md) instead.

## What people see

* **Your team**, on every meeting: the insights you left on, in your order.
* **Anyone with a share link**, including people outside your organization: the same insights, in the same order.
* Someone opening a link to a hidden insight lands on the meeting overview instead.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.cogram.com/meetings/default-insights.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
