# Dark Mode

Cogram supports a dark appearance alongside the default light one. Your choice is saved in your browser and applies across the whole app. It isn't synced to your account, so you may need to set it again on another browser or device.

## Switching appearance

Open the avatar menu at the bottom of the left sidebar and click the appearance control. Each click cycles through the three modes:

* **Light**: the standard light theme.
* **Dark**: a dark theme that's easier on the eyes in low-light environments.
* **System**: follows your operating system's appearance setting, switching automatically when your OS switches between light and dark.

The control's label and icon reflect your current choice: **Light theme** (sun), **Dark theme** (moon), or **System theme** (monitor).

New users start on **System**, so Cogram matches your device out of the box. Switch to **Light** or **Dark** any time to override it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.cogram.com/settings/dark-mode.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
